Solution Focussed Therapy does not focus on problems and possible origins of the problem, we focus on solutions. By doing this we retrain the brain to orientate towards the outcomes we want. Activating the left frontal cortex, which is able to imagine and create future situations, creates changes in the neural pathways in the brain. Just as by going to the gym, we can change our bodies, by exercising our minds we change our thought patterns, which then affects how we feel.

Understanding the nature of the ‘fight, flight and freeze’ area of the brain, and how accumulated stress affects us, enables us to detach from compulsive and destructive thoughts, beliefs and reactions and ultimately overcome them. They no longer influence our actions and decisions. We recover from addictive thought patterns, destructive behaviours and conditioned emotions, and we start to see changes in everything around us.
We are naturally designed to heal, what has happened in the past does not have to inform our future. We will deal best with whatever challenges we face when we are calm, confident and feeling in control.

Hypnosis is a powerful tool for deep relaxation and has been shown to reduce anxiety, stress and pain. We naturally go into trance every seven minutes during the day and during REM sleep at night. This is how we process emotion and re-evaluate our experiences so we can rationalise them. By consciously introducing more trance states to our day, we give our minds time to process, heal and recover. In such a relaxed state we have access to our huge storehouse of wisdom and knowledge, so that we can solve problems creatively and find healthy solutions.
